Hot on the heels of our work with the UK Post Office ‘i-am’ were approached
by McCarthy O’Hora Architects to enter a collaborative pitch to create a new
An Post (Irish Post Office) Experience. An Post see innovation in this area as key to maintaining relevance and growing revenues through additional products and services. Having partnered with McCarthy O’Hora on branch design for the Bank of Ireland, we were delighted to win the project together (leaving the competition green with envy, ha ha) and are now developing the creative concepts, which you see an exclusive sneak preview of here. The new experience will go live in 2010 and we’ll keep you.. posted.

There is nothing we here at the ‘i-am’ studio love more than a truly different, spectacular dining experience. That’s why we love working in the restaurant industry for people such as Julian Metcalfe. After having our Christmas shenanigans in a snow capped forest as part of the Reindeer Installation, a while back, we can't help but notice the surge of pop-up eateries in the last couple of years. We have been lucky enough to sample a lot of these pop-ups but one recently that struck a real chord was The Pale Blue Door. Initially created for a few nights only The restaurant was situated in a truly transformed derelict studio in Hackney. The menu was set and the waitresses the most beautiful bearded ladies but boy oh boy was it a night out! The creator Tony Hornecker is creating a new experience for Christmas with the Architecture Foundation – Christmas at Number 42 – a completely ‘immersive and interactive’ experience we have been warned it could involve climbing, confined spaces and interactive performances as well as ‘more than generous’ Gin and Tonics! During the course of the evening we will be tucking into 3 courses, meetings in the streets and a revolving community of cabaret artists. We can’t wait. Get Booking now if you still can.

Ever wondered what it would be like to take a trip to one of Europe’s top city’s and stay in someone’s lovingly kept, modern flat without the hassle of check in desks and swipe cards? London has it’s answer – 40 Winks – located in trendy East London, (just round the corner from our studio) is David Carter’s home, a historic and elegant four storey Queen Anne townhouse built in 1717. Carter is an internationally acclaimed interior designer (check out his super cool website at www.alacarter.com). His abode combines a ‘mix of old and new, of the seriously grand peppered with a sprinkling of shabby chic, it exudes glamour, wit and charm, 40 Winks is such a treat and all for the same amount of cash you would bung a mate for sofa surfing. Right, now, I’m off for a pre-christmas nap.. zzzzz.

Nothing says Christmas to ‘i-am’ like Snow capped buildings, Vodka and all things sparkly so you can imagine how delighted we are to have just completed our latest project in Moscow, Mur Mur. After seeing our work for Russian shoe brand Svetski last year our friends in Moscow got in touch to ask us to pitch for a new female accessory chain. We have created a complete brand experience from Brand strategy and Identity through to interior design and packaging ready for brand launch and rollout. The accessory chain combines a mix of the modern and classic in a comfortable and elegant ‘boudoir’ style environment incorporating rich colour palettes of burgundy and pinks and textures of velvet and leather. It’s experiences seduce and envelope the customer.

Everyone at the ‘i-am’ studio went for an apres-ski drink and traditional fondue last week ..no we haven’t opened a new branch in Chamonix.. we sloped up to the new rooftop pop-up Alpine Lodge, called The Clubhouse, Shoreditch. Designed and built by Funky Supplier, Drive Productions, The Clubhouse is designed with party and group bookings of 20 up to 70 in mind and is perfect for sinking into a comfy, cushioned sofa to enjoy the cosy warmth of a roaring open fire or for some après ski style partying. With 'views' of the Mont Blanc massif and a (fairground) helicopter standing by to whisk you off for an Alpine adventure The Clubhouse, Shoreditch offers great food for groups and a fab menu is online here. From a bubbling three cheese fondue, a piping hot plate of tartiflette or mountain-sized portions of Pot au Feu (served straight from the fire), there's plenty to satisfy your Alpine appetite. Wash it all down with vin chaud and start the party with some ice-cold Eristoff(ee) vodka shots or organise your own fireside ‘Keg Party’ by ordering an 88 pint barrel of beer with a DIY hand pump to help yourself. The Clubhouse is available for daytime and evening groups so get to the slopes while you can...
