For the last six years the Trust have fully recognised the benefit of ensuring the visitors to their properties are properly refreshed and entertained. Encouraging the increase in customer dwell time has improved the spend per visitor which in turn contributes still further to the maintenance and improvement of their properties.

The Brief:

'i-am' were asked to modernise and strengthen The National Trust brand by developing both their retail and catering formats to reflect the needs and expectations of today's more demanding visitor and at the same time remain in keeping with all the differing property types. In addition 'i-am' were also asked to consider future catering and retail formats for coastal and parkland sites.

The Solution:

'i-am' created, developed and implemented three different formats: 'Elegant Living', 'Home Gift and Garden' and 'Outdoor' for retail and 'Simple Food', 'Kitchen Cafe', and 'Restaurant' formats for catering.

The Result:

Installation around the country across a selection of sites has provided excellent results with visitor spend increases throughout. 'i-am' have now been commissioned to develop a farm shop concept to enable The National Trust to bring to market fresh produce grown and sourced by the Trust itself.
